Thiviers is known as the capital of Foie Gras, a delicious speciality of the region and not to be missed.A Regional highlight is the beautiful town of Brantome (27km) and its Benedictine abbey, built by Charlemagne in 769. Here you can hire a canoe (book in advance) and enjoy this lovely stretch of the river.
