The landscape consists of mountain passes, small villages and forest areas. Especially in summer you can enjoy the many hiking trails that stretch through the mountains and along the crystal clear lakes. Stadl an der Mur itself has a charming atmosphere with traditional Austrian houses, hospitable locals and cozy restaurants.The Murau ski region consists of 2 ski areas: Lachtal and Kreischberg with a total of 88 kilometers of slopes and 23 ski lifts. The Kreischberg & Lachtal ski area is particularly popular as a family ski area. The Turracher Höhe ski area offers 43 kilometers of slopes and, with an altitude of up to 2205 meters, is one of the most snow-sure ski areas.
