We booked Holiday Home De Angelis Sant'Enea for our stay in Umbria while we were getting married in Perugia and couldn’t have asked for a nicer location in Umbria, only about 15 mins outside Perugia. Our family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the villa and all the facilities on offer, the bedrooms were clean and fresh, the library was fabulous featuring lots of antiques and paintings and the kitchen was well equipped even included its own coffee machine. We even used the small chapel to do a reading after our wedding in Perugia, very romantic with candles and flowers. We didn’t use the pool as visited mid-April and it was still closed, but the pool house and pool looked wonderful. Elisa our holiday adviser was lovely and had plenty of suggestions and recommendations for what to do in the local area. She also recommended the chef - Alviero Bigi, who came to the villa and prepared a family meal featuring typical local recipes and ingredients. Overall we couldn’t have found a more magical villa, the grounds were wonderful with plenty of room for the children to play in, and even feed the ducks at the bottom of the driveway. Highly recommend it!
Villa di Angelis holiday house outside Perugia is truly an excellent holiday villa. All rooms are ensuite witn bath tub, and several rooms also have a private living room. South-facing rooms can be a bit to hot during the days, but there was no temperature issue during nights. Make sure that the room has a mosquito net covering the window, since there were plenty of mosquitos in the area. Several of the rooms could do with a new coat of paint on the walls and ceiling and a general touch-up.
Free wi-fi is available in the villa, although the coverage is not very good (I could for instance not use my computer in our room since coverage was not enough). There is no wi-fi available at the pool area.
The communal rooms and kitchen are great for hanging out and cooking. The pool house is fantastic since it offers a cool retreat area by the pool as well as all amenities needed such as kitchen, bathrooms and shower. The sunset from the pool house roof terrace is very nice. The pool is quite large and perfect for hanging out and cooling down during the hot and sunny days. There are plenty and comfortable sun beds and sun chairs available.
The surrounding landscape is not as impressive as for instance in Tuscany, and there are no views from the ground floor/pool area, you have to go up on the pool house roof terrace or the balcony in the library in order to get a good view of the surrounding landscape. The garden is not that impressive either, which is a shame since there is a gardener living on the premises. For instance it would have been fantastic if there was a herb garden available for guests.
We ordered dinner prepared by a chef through the villa for one evening, and we are very happy with the dinner and highly recommend it. The chef came to the villa and prepared the meal, where we had chosen dishes from a menu in advance. I think we had seven courses which all tasted great. The food tasted fantastic, the service was great, and the price tag of 45 € per adult (35 € for children) well worth it. Make sure not to eat too much or too fast in the beginning in order to have room for all courses!
The villa is a perfect holiday home when travelling with a larger group, there is plenty of space for everyone, but the villa could use som TLC in order to be in top condition. The pool area is great, but the other grounds around the villa not so impressive.
Stayed here with group of 10 adults and 10 child with ease at end of July 2013. 2nd floor bedrooms got a bit warm but fans were arranged to each bedroom. Pool area did not had any view, but nice view was found from pool house roof terrace and from main house balcony. Grill had logs arranged and wine and olive oil were available for purchase. Bakery, butchery and groceries were within few kilometers. Had one breakfast for the whole group arranged by the Villa, but it was not worth of the price (10€ per child/15€ per adult). Had also kitchen cleaned every day with 20€/hour, which is reasonable. Unfortunately some discussion was needed whether two or four hours of work is needed to clean two kitchens and dining area.
De villa was bijzonder goed onderhouden. De eigenaar was zeer behulpzaam en stond altijd klaar om vragen te beantwoorden. De locatie geeft ook volkomen privacy aan de groep. Deze villa is zeker aan te raden.
